Abstract
The hilar isolation and dissection of portal pedicle is usually performed prior to hepatectomy in order to minimize blood loss intraoperatively. In some instances, it is difficult to visualize and encircle the bifurcation of the portal triad structures. We recommend the use of a simple and safe method of direct approach to the transverse portion of the portal vein in the left lobectomy or lateral segmentectomy, by incision and dissection of the ligament teres hepatis and continuing fatty tissue.Entities:
