In vitro screening of new drugs and analogues--specificity and selectivity.

B T Hill1.

Abstract

The use of human tumors for in vitro evaluation of new drugs and analogues is currently receiving widespread attention. Results from initial preclinical studies have definitely provided the impetus for continuing such investigations, refining the methodologies and establishing larger series of cell lines from biopsies so as to increase the validity of attempts to define tumour types most responsive to active new agents or specific drug combinations.
