The inclusion criteria for age was 30–79 years on the day of investigation (except for the Tibetan population in Lhasa whose inclusion criteria for age was 18–79 years).
Smoking is defined as a total of >100 cigarettes smoked to date.
Quit smoking is defined as quitting for >6 months.
Occasional drinking of alcohol is defined as drinking on an average of ≤1–2 days per week in the past year.
Regular drinking of alcohol is defined as drinking on an average of ≥3–5 days per week in the past year.
Occasional drinking of tea is defined as drinking on an average of ≤1–2 days per week in the past year.
Regular drinking of tea is defined as drinking on an average of ≥3–5 days per week in the past year.
Total physical activity includes job-related physical activity, transportation physical activity, leisure-time physical activity and housework.
Occasional physical exercise is defined as ≤1–2 times per week in the past year.
Regular physical exercise is defined as ≥3–5 times per week in the past year.
A high-fat diet is defined as an average daily oil intake >25 g.
