Intracerebellar haematoma: eleven traumatic and non-traumatic cases and a review of the literature.

R Firsching1, R A Frowein, F Thun.

Abstract

A follow-up study of 11 patients with traumatic and non-traumatic intracerebellar haematomas is analysed. The mortality is 36%. Prognosis depends on the rate of deterioration and level of consciousness. While indication for clot evacuation is controversial, ventricular drainage is recommended as a primary protective procedure in any state of consciousness.
