Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Since the introduction of the UK's National Early Warning Score (NEWS) and its modification, NEWS2, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), has caused a worldwide pandemic. NEWS and NEWS2 have good predictive abilities in patients with other infections and sepsis, however there is little evidence of their performance in COVID-19.Entities:

HR = heart/pulse rate; RR = respiratory rate; sBP = systolic blood pressure SpO2 = peripheral oxygen saturation; NEWS = National Early Warning Score; NEWS2 = National Early Warning Score 2.
Count data has been tested for significance using Fisher's exact test with Bonferroni correction for pairwise comparison.
Percentages were compared using the chi squared test with Bonferroni correction.
Mean values were compared with one-way ANOVA and Scheffe's test.
Median values were compared using Kruskal–Wallis and Dunn's test (Bonferroni correction).
IQR = Interquartile range (Q1–Q3).
