Abstract
(1) Background: The influenza A/H1N1 pdm09 virus rapidly spread throughout the world. Despite the inflammatory and virus-degradation pathways described in the pathogenesis of influenza A virus (IAV) infection, little is known about the role of the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the genes involved in the processing and antigenic presentation-related mechanisms. Demographic and clinical data of the influenza A/H1N1 infection (INF-P) and healthy contact (HC) groups.
| Variables | INF-P = 128 | HC = 111 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Age | 41 (19–86) | 44 (19–82) | 0.986 |
| Sex, male (%) | 77 (60.16) | 46 (41.44) | 0.003 |
| BMI | 30.5 (17.4–52.8) | 26.8 (16–44.8) | <0.001 |
| Tobacco smoking, % | 57 (44.53) | 39 (35.14) | 0.139 |
All values are expressed as median and minimum–maximum values. We used the Mann–Whitney U test and Fisher Exact test. p-value < 0.05 was considered as significant.
