Dear Editor, During the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) pandemic, a 15‐year‐old black female patient with Caribbean ancestry presented with 2 weeks of a pruritic, hyperpigmented, reticulated eruption on the trunk (a–c), polydipsia, polyuria, and unintentional 20‐lb weight loss. Skin biopsy was consistent with prurigo pigmentosa (PP). Laboratory investigations revealed new‐onset type 1 diabetes coincident with a positive test for SARS‐CoV‐2 IgG. Although there is a known relationship between PP and ketosis, this case raises the possibility that PP and new‐onset type 1 diabetes may be delayed manifestations of COVID‐19. This case also addresses the dearth of images related to PP and COVID‐19 in skin‐of‐colour patients.,

Acknowledgments

we thank the patient and her father for permission to publish this report.
