BACKGROUND: Suicide is a leading cause of death among adolescents and more knowledge from high risk groups is needed in order to develop effective preventive strategies. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between sexual minority status and suicidality in a multinational sample of European school pupils.Entities:

Poisson regression derived rate ratios (simple [RR] and adjusted [aRR]) of serious suicidal ideation reported during the study in relation to sexual orientation and other variables. P-values are as follows:
° p ≥0.05;
* p <0.05;
** p <0.01;
*** p <0.001.
a N = 1168 (females 55.7%; SMY 9.9%).
b N = 1026 (females 55.3%; SMY 10.1%).
