Abstract
The increased intestinal permeability, caused by chronic alcohol consumption, may result in translocation of gut microbiota-derived PAMPs or even bacteria themselves. Their arrival in liver can trigger hepatic inflammation, which exacerbates ALD2,3 . Indeed, E. faecalis colonized in the gut of alcoholic hepatitis patients can translocate through leaky intestinal barrier to liver2 . This article is protected by copyright.
