Abstract
Acute urinary retention is a common emergency genitourinary symptom. The etiology of acute retention includes obstructive, neurogenic, pharmacologic, and psychogenic causes. The emergency management of acute urinary retention is bladder decompression, which is usually accomplished with a Foley catheter.Mesh:
