Abstract
In analysis of 216 operations for removing tumors of the anterior parts of the third ventricle it was established that the transcallosal approach with access to the tumor through the foramen of Monro or between the columns of the fornix was most adequate for radical removal of the tumor. Combined approaches are necessary in removal of extra-intraventricular tumors. The choice of the approach is guided by precisely determined topography of the tumor, the extent of its spread beyond the third ventricle in particular. A subfrontal approach fails to provide for inspection of all parts of the third ventricle.Entities:
