Data are presented as mean±sd, unless otherwise stated. EPT: expiratory pressure load training; IPT: inspiratory pressure load training; BMI: body mass index; GOLD: global initiative for chronic obstructive lung disease; FEV1: forced expiratory volume in 1 s; FVC: forced vital capacity; VC: vital capacity; AT: anaerobic threshold; V’O: oxygen uptake; LABA: long-acting β2-agonist; LAMA: long-acting muscarinic antagonist; ICS: inhaled corticosteroids. Triple inhalation: a combination of LAMA, LABA and ICS. Medications are presented separately. ATs were not detectable in four patients in the EPT group, and in three patients in the IPT group. History of hospitalisation owing to a deteriorated condition in relation to COPD was investigated. #: All patients used long-term oxygen therapy only on exertion.
