Overview of Local Anesthetics Used in This Case
| General Name | Products Name for Cartridge Type for Dental Anesthesia | Vasoconstrictor | Agent Concentration | Vasoconstrictor Concentration | Preservative (Methyl4-hydroxbenzoate) | Antioxidant | Periods |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1% procaine hydrochloride | Adrenaline* | 10 mg/1 mL | 0.005 mg/1 mL | None | None | First arrival | |
| 2% lidocaine hydrochloride | Xylocaine cartridge® | Adrenaline | 20 mg/1 mL | 0.0125 mg/1 mL | Methyl4-hydroxbenzoate # | Sodium metabisulfite | 6 months later |
| 3% Prilocaine hydrochloride (Propitocaine hydrochloride) | Citanest Octapressin® | Feripressin | 30 mg/1 mL | 0.054 unit | Methyl4-hydroxbenzoate | None | 6 months later |
| 2% lidocaine hydrochloride | ORA Inj. cartridge® | Adrenaline | 20 mg/1 mL | 0.025 mg/1 mL | None | Sodium metabisulfite | 7 years later |
| 3% mepivacaine hydrochloride | Scandonest cartridge3%® | None | 30 mg/1 mL | None | None | None | 7 years later |
Notes: *Adrenaline was addedd by a doctor following the suggestion from the hospital pharmacy. #Xylocaine cartridge® now does not contain preservative. For dental infiltration anesthesia using procaine hydrochloride, adrenaline can be added to a 2% injection solution, and 10–100 mg of procaine hydrochloride is usually used for adults for transmission anesthesia and infiltration anesthesia. However, the dose may be adjusted according to the age, anesthesia area, site, tissue, symptoms, and constitution. If necessary, add adrenaline (usual concentration 1:100,000–200,000) before use.
