Abstract
The locations of proteins BL1, BL6, BL23 and BL29 from Bacillus stearothermophilus have been determined on the ribosomal surface by immunoelectron microscopy. All four proteins were localized in the same region of the 50S subunit as their homologous counterparts from Escherichia coli, indicating that the ribosomal architecture is the same in both species. This finding is of great importance as it allows structural data obtained on ribosomes from either organism to be incorporated into a unique ribosome model.Entities:
