The effect of sealants on dental caries: a review.

Abstract

Many dentists are concerned that caries may progress if inadvertently sealed within a tooth by a pit and fissure sealant. Several research studies have been performed to determine whether this is an important concern. This report reviews the methods and results of those studies.
