Abstract
We report the successful use of raw cornstarch to maintain normoglycemia in two children with nesidioblastosis. Despite subtotal distal pancreatectomy both children required frequent daytime feedings and continuous nocturnal intragastric polycose administration to prevent symptomatic hypoglycemia. Raw cornstarch administration consistently maintained blood glucose levels in the normal range. Both children still need frequent daily feedings but no hypoglycemic episodes are reported. They have normal development and have maintained satisfactory growth during the 22 mo since initiation of treatment.Entities:
