Influence of rec and pol genes on the maintenance of a Proteus plasmid (P-lac) in Escherichia coli.

R E Ambrosio.

Abstract

The maintenance requirements of a Proteus plasmid, P-lac, in Escherichia coli have been investigated. P-lac could not be inherited by recB and polA1 mutants, and it requires a functional recC gene for maintenance. P-lac replication was inhibited by chloramphenicol.
