Steps of Awake Proning.
| Indication | Acute hypoxemic respiratory failure |
| Contraindications | Respiratory distress with increased work of breathing |
| Check oxygen therapy/NIV/HFNC is secure with adequate length on the tubing. Continue pulse oximetry monitoring | |
| At 15 min: Check for desaturation or patient intolerance. Serial measurement of ROX index (SO2/FiO2: respiratory rate) to be done. Any fall in ROX index should prompt escalation of care. | |
| In case of any respiratory distress | |
