Abstract
The novel RNA betacoronavirus SARS-CoV-2 is driving great efforts in clinical and basic research and several studies of the epidemiology, risk factors, clinical and virological features of this infection are already available. However COVID-19 is a totally new pathological entity, and many gray areas regarding associated diseases still need to be elucidated, especially in the group of patients who suffer from preexistent gastrointestinal disease.
