Carcinoid Tumors: Past, Present, and Future.

James R Howe1.

Abstract

Carcinoid tumors are being seen with increasing frequency by surgeons and have become the most common type of tumors of the small bowel. These tumors produce a variety of hormones, which leads to many unique characteristics in terms of symptoms and presentation. Our knowledge of the natural history and treatment of these tumors continues to evolve, and this article will summarize these advances. © Indian Association of Surgical Oncology 2020.
