Abstract
BACKGROUND: We evaluated the correlation between preoperative white blood cell (WBC) count and the prognosis in esophageal cancer (EC) patients who underwent esophagectomy, and explored the potential link between preoperative WBC count and tumor-infiltrating neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) in EC.Entities:

Figure 1Kaplan-Meier analysis of OS (A) and DFS (B) from the entire cohort from FUSCC based on preoperative leukocytosis, which was defined as a WBC count over 10,000/µL. X-tile analyses of OS (C) and DFS (D) were performed to determine the optimal cut-off value for the WBC count. Kaplan-Meier analysis of OS (E) and DFS (F) from the entire cohort from FUSCC based on preoperative leukocytosis, which was defined as a WBC count over 7,000/µL.
Baseline clinical characteristics of the entire cohort based on the WBC count
