Abstract
A 62 year-old female presenting with shortness of breath and severe anemia(Hb level 4.4 g/dL)was diagnosed with tumor bleeding and duodenal cancer by gastrointestinal endoscopy.Computed tomography scan revealed multiple liver metastases. After admission, the Hb level dropped from 9.1 g/dL to 5.1 g/dL in one night, and emergency pancreaticoduodenectomy( PD)was performed to control the bleeding. The postoperative course was uneventful, and the patient was discharged on postoperative day(POD)16.Systemic chemotherapy was initiated 1 month after surgery, but the patient died from the disease 13 months after surgery.Emergency PD could be a treatment option in patients with uncontrolled tumor bleeding and fatal conditions.Entities:
