Abstract
OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the levels of caveolin-1 in thyroid follicular epithelial cells of papillary thyroid cancer, follicular thyroid cancer, and nonmalignant thyroid nodule benign follicular adenoma, as well as to explore the relationship between the levels of caveolin-1 and thyroid function.Entities:

Figure 1.Expression patterns of caveolin-1 in thyroid follicular tissue of PTC, FTC, BA, and control tissues by immunohistochemistry. Caveolin-1 is expressed at a much higher level in PTC (A, E) compared to in FTC (B, F), BA (C, G), and control tissues (D, H), which did not significantly differ from each other. The caveolin-1 protein is most strongly expressed in vascular endothelial cells of thyroid tissue. (A-D) Scale bar: 100 µm; (E-H) scale bar: 25 µm. BA indicates benign adenoma, FTC, follicular thyroid cancer; PTC, papillary thyroid carcinoma.
