Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) guidelines for surgery
| 1. | Only “essential” cancer cases are allowed. The patients in these cases have cancers that cannot wait 2–3 months and have a significant chance of benefiting from the surgery |
| 2. | We also allow selective performance of palliative procedures for acute relief of pain and suffering (e.g., to relieve pain not manageable by other means or acute neurologic deficits) |
| 3. | No elective procedures are allowed |
| 4. | No surgeries that have a readily available, appropriate, and equivalent nonsurgical option are allowed |
| 5. | No surgeries that may be delayed 2–3 months without a negative impact on patient survival are allowed |
| 6. | True emergencies (e.g., perforated viscus) are allowed |
| 7. | Requests for exceptions will be reviewed by the COVID19 Subcommittee of the Operating Room Executive Committee |
