Abstract
BACKGROUND: Few published studies exist to describe the off-label use of multiple-dose fosfomycin for outpatient treatment of complicated urinary tract infections (UTI). The purpose of this study was to characterize the patients, infections, drug susceptibilities, and outcomes of multiple-dose fosfomycin episodes for outpatient UTI treatment.Entities:

aPatients could contribute to data multiple times if they had multiple bacterial isolates (n = 7 episodes).
bOnly includes patients who had at least 1 organism identified with a pretreatment culture. Not all identified cultures included.
cWithin 30 days of fosfomycin dispensing. Defined as complete resolution of signs and symptoms of infection including dysuria, urinary frequency and urgency, suprapubic pain, hematuria, and fever.
dDefined as offending organism colony-forming units <103 on posttreatment culture within 30 days of fosfomycin dispensing. Ninety-five treatment episodes did not have follow-up cultures within 30 days to include in the analysis.
