Proposed antithrombotic strategy for acute ischemic stroke with large-artery atherosclerosis: focus on patients with high-risk transient ischemic attack and mild-to-moderate stroke.

Xiaowen Hou1, Huisheng Chen1.

Abstract

An effective antithrombotic strategy is required to prevent the recurrence and aggravation of large-artery atherosclerosis (LAA) stroke, especially in high-risk transient ischemic attack (TIA) and acute mild ischemic stroke. Based on clinical evidence, atherosclerotic thrombosis theory, antithrombotic treatment guidelines of acute myocardial infarction (AMI), and previous studies, a new antithrombotic strategy "early administration, enhanced therapy, combination therapy, short-term therapy, and sequential therapy" was proposed in this study. Multicenter randomized trials are needed in the future to verify the efficacy of the strategy. 2020 Annals of Translational Medicine. All rights reserved.
