Abstract
BACKGROUND: Malnutrition is appreciated as a global leading paediatric burden that indirectly or directly contributes to child mortality. In children, malnutrition has profound effects on health and development; and has been associated with poor outcomes in paediatric diseases. However, it is not clear if malnourished children are at an increased risk of having malaria. This study was conducted to evaluate the risk of malaria infection in children with malnutrition.Entities:

Fig. 4Relative proportion of children with normal or low random blood sugar (LRBS) level among RDT-positive and RDT-negative children. The proportion of RDT-negative children with normal random blood sugar steadily increased from 40.0% at recruitment, through 54.8% at 1st post-intervention screening and to 57.7% at 2nd post intervention screening, indicating that, probably, decrease in falciparum malaria parasitemia is associated with increase in random blood sugar
