Abstract
Epigenetic alterations have been associated with a wide range of diseases. Furthermore, many therapeutic interventions modelling environmental exposures appear to involve epigenetic mechanisms. Recent progress has been made in developing drugs targeting specific epigenetic components. Here, I propose developing 'epimimetics', novel drugs that mimic or enhance therapeutic effects of epigenetic modifications.Keywords: DNA methylation; environmental enrichment; epigenetic targets; epigenetics; exercise; histone modifications
