Abstract
BACKGROUND: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is an established treatment for a number of malignancies. Quality of life (QOL) is an important marker for assessing arduous treatment modalities. Diagnosis of cancer, HSCT, and the physical and psychosocial sequelae of the intensive treatment lead to a deficit in the QOL of the recipient. This study aimed to assess the impact of HSCT on psychiatric morbidity and QOL in patients with hematological malignancies.Entities:
Keywords: Hematological malignancies; Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation; psychiatric morbidity; quality of life; • Acute hospitalization is the period of maximum physical and psychological dysfunction; • Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is an arduous but life-saving procedure; • Overall, it leads to a decrease in symptoms and improvement in quality of life.
