Abstract
Autologous nerve transplantations of the tibial nerve were carried out in 15 rabbits. In an average period of 19 weeks a return of function could be observed in 13 of the animals. Neuro-physiological, histological and scanning-electron microscopic examinations were done. A comparison was performed with results after simple nerve suture, done under equal circumstances. Nerve suture leads to a relative better regeneration. To explain this result the formation of a scar in the distal suture was discussed.Entities:
