Granulocytic sarcoma of the small intestine: a case report.

We report the case of a patient with an ileal tumor initially diagnosed as a lymphoma. The development of acute myeloblastic leukemia 8 months later made it clear that the initial tumor was a granulocytic sarcoma (GS). This case emphasizes the possible difficulties of histologic diagnosis and the importance of the routine use of histochemical and immunologic techniques in the diagnosis of extranodal lymphomas.
