Ciliated metaplasia in a gastric adenoma in a Swedish patient.

C A Rubio1.

Abstract

The second European case of ciliated gastric metaplasia is presented, this time in a Swedish patient. Cilia were found in cystically dilated glands underneath a gastric adenoma. The possibility that cilia represent adaptative metaplasia aimed at expelling the retained mucus within the cysts is discussed.
