Abstract
Rates of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) declined over several decades and reached historic lows by 2009. Unfortunately, STIs have resurged since then. Adolescents and young adults comprise approximately half of the new cases, and up to two thirds are youth of color. We briefly review the emergence of this new STI epidemic and offer several recommendations to prevent transmission of STIs in youth.
