Enchondroma Arising from Flexor Tendon Sheath of Hand: A Rare Entity.

Vishal Gautam1, Narender Saini1.

Abstract

Chondromas of soft tissue are benign and relatively rare lesions. Proper clinical examination supplemented by radiologic and histopathologic examination is necessary to diagnose this entity. This must be differentiated from malignant soft tissue neoplasm like chondrosarcoma to avoid unnecessary radical treatment. We came across a similar case of soft tissue enchondroma of the left-hand ring finger in a young 20-year-old male patient. It was arising from tendon sheath. Complete excision of the lesion was performed with preservation of flexor tendon and tendon sheath. The patient had an uneventful recovery with no sign of recurrence 6 months postoperatively. © Thieme Medical Publishers.
