Release of Extra Articular Ankylosis of Jaws as a Sequelae of Cancrum Oris with Extensive Gingival Myasis in a Scoliosis Patient: A Rare Case Report.

Tanmoy Ghorui1, Amit Ray1.

Abstract

'Noma' is an allusion to the rapidly destructive course of gangrene (Emmanuel et al. in J Maxillofac Surg 11:160-170, 1983). The pathogenicity is related to the high bacterial load of microorganisms resulting in gangrene that rapidly invades the facial tissues. The infection causes perforating wounds of the lips, cheek, nose, palate and bony fusion of the maxilla and mandible. © Association of Otolaryngologists of India 2018.
