Abstract
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) arthritis impacts mandibular growth and development. This can result in skeletal deformity, such as facial asymmetry and/or malocclusion asymmetry. This article reviews the unique properties of TMJ and dentofacial growth and development in the setting of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Specific orthopedic/orthodontic and surgical management of children with JIA and TMJ arthritis is discussed. The importance of interdisciplinary collaboration is highlighted.Entities:
