Abstract
Historically, metatarsalgia was approached as a forefoot condition, most often associated with hallux valgus. Consequently, surgical treatments were limited to that anatomic zone, disregarding more proximal structures. In order to assess this entity properly, it is necessary to consider anatomic and biomechanical factors, as well as general and local conditions of the affected patients. A thorough understanding of the multiple potential causal factors is essential to ensure selection of the optimal treatment.Entities:
