Apoptotic Caspases: A Double-Edged Sword in Radiation-Induced Immunogenicity.

Mara De Martino1, Claire Vanpouille-Box2.

Abstract

In a recent study in Oncoimmunology, Rodriguez-Ruiz et al. demonstrate that the apoptotic executioner caspase 3 (CASP3) attenuates antitumor immune responses induced by radiation therapy (RT) by inhibiting the release of cytosolic DNA. CASP3 stands out as a promising target for the development of novel strategies to improve anticancer responses driven by RT.
