Abstract
This study was conducted to identify factors associated with the utilization of treatment and rehabilitation services by drug abusers. Around 14.7% of drug abusers self-reported as having used treatment and rehabilitation services at any point in their lifetime (90.8% male and 9.2% female). The dependent variable of having "ever used" the services was positively associated with receiving support of family and friends, knowing of an existing treatment and rehabilitation program, having ever been involved in an outreach program activity, experiencing self-treatment, and having a positive perception of the efficacy of the program. Among the 10 cities examined, the findings showed unequal utilization of treatment and rehabilitation services, implying the need to better monitor the use of the services and to develop a community-based treatment that both enables drug abusers to confront barriers to the utilization of treatment and rehabilitation services and also reintegrates drug abusers to the community. Keywords: Indonesia; drug abuse; family support; treatment and rehabilitation; utilization
