Caffeine does not cause in vitro calcium loss from neonatal mouse calvaria.

E A Bergman1, J W Newbrey, L K Massey.

Abstract

Calcium concentration of media containing calvaria from 6-day-old mice were unchanged by four doses of caffeine in a 48-hour in vitro system. The caffeine-treated calvaria were similar morphologically at all levels when compared to their littermate controls. In the culture conditions used, caffeine does not stimulate bone to release calcium.
