Abstract
Over the last 50 years, much has been learned about the physiology and functions of the hippocampus from studies in freely behaving rats. Two relatively early works in the field provided major insights that remain relevant today. Here, I revisit these studies and discuss how our understanding of the hippocampus has evolved over the last several decades.Entities:
