Figure 1Gardner fibroma: a hypertrichosis mass with the proliferation of coarse collagen fibers. (A) A well-circumscribed brown-colored soft mass measured approximately 2 cm × 2 cm was observed on the right lateral thigh. Twenty-eight terminal dark black hairs were uniformly distributed on the mass. (B) Histopathologic examination demonstrated that the epidermis was hyperkeratosis and locally atrophic. There was a hypocellular proliferation of haphazardly arranged coarse collagen fibers with inconspicuous spindle cells and locally degenerated hyaline. The collagen was formed around adipose tissue lobules. Particularly, an increased number of hair follicles (arrow) was noted deep in the dermis (hematoxylin-eosin staining, original magnification ×40).
