Abstract
Urease is one of the most distinctive virulence factors of Proteus mirabilis pathogenesis. Urease activity correlates with many landmark side effects of P. mirabilis catheter-associated urinary tract infections, such as urolithiasis and bacteremia. Here we describe two simple and inexpensive colorimetric methods for quantifying urease activity in single species cultures as well as cocultures.Entities:
