Abstract
Paraffin had been used for pleural plombage in the treatment of tuberculosis. However, paraffin use has been reported to cause late postoperative complications. A 79-year-old man was presented with an extramedullary tumor and spinal paralysis. Forty-seven years ago, he had undergone pleural plombage using paraffin for the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis. Since the extramedullary tumor was found to be paraffinoma, paraffin in the vertebral canal and thoracic cavity was removed surgically. All the paraffin in the vertebral canal and thoracic cavity was removed. After surgery, the patient remains well, without spinal paralysis.Entities:
