Integrating a clinical review process with postgraduate training in clinical psychopharmacology.

A G Awad1.

Abstract

The Clinical Psychopharmacology Program at the University of Toronto/Wellesley Hospital uses a clinical review process to train psychiatric residents in the use of psychoactive drugs. Residents participate in setting criteria for proper use of specific drugs and then evaluate their own performance based on those criteria. In addition to improving residents' practices in prescribing psychoactive drugs and monitoring their use, the program introduces future psychiatrists to quality assurance and peer review activities at an early stage.
