Abstract
Nerve compression occurs in fibro-osseous tunnels as the nerves cross joints. The pathology involves traction and adhesion, aside from compression. This can occur at multiple sites along the course of the nerve. Regardless of level, clinical assessment is standard and a systematic approach to uncover all sites of compression is advised. Evolution of management for carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome is reviewed with an emphasis on natural history and nonsurgical treatment, which are not commonly discussed. Treatment is multimodal and the systemic factors that contribute to nerve dysfunction should also be addressed.Entities:
