Abstract
OBJECTIVE: Peptic ulcer disease is a condition in which an important role has infection with H. pylori. The most common complication of peptic ulcer is bleeding. The presence of H. pylori triggers local and systemic cytokine signaling which may affect processes such as healing, gastric or duodenal rupture, and carcinogenesis. In this study, we examined the concentrations of IL-1β, IL-6, IL-10, TNF, TGF-β and IL-17A in serum by enzyme immunoassay and their mRNA expressions in periulcer biopsies obtained from patients with bleeding peptic ulcer by means of real-time-PCR.Entities:

Fig. 1Expression of IL-1β, IL-6, IL-10, TNF, TGF-β i IL-17A mRNAs in gastric mucosa of H. pylori-positive patients (HbP+) and the ones without H. pylori infection (HbPØ) were quantified by real-time PCR. The relative expression of each target gene is presented in arbitrary units after normalization with GAPDH mRNA expression (see Materials and methods). Data are presented in the box-plot format in which cross line represents median, rectangle represents interquartile range, whiskers represents maximal and minimal values in 1.5 interquartile range, whereas outlier and extreme values are represented by circles and stars respectively, ✶✶p < 0.01
