Abstract
Cutaneous mastocytomas were observed in female CD-1 mice following long-term application of three types of cigarette smoke condensate suspensions ("tars") from different cigarettes or of 7,12-dimethylbenz(a)anthracene (DMBA) and tetradecanoylphorbol-acetate (TPA) or tars. These mastocytomas were always accompanied by diffuse dermal mast cell infiltration (DDMI). These results indicate that mastocytomas were induced by agents present in the cigarette smoke condensate of DMBA plus TPA.Entities:
