Abstract
Scaphoid non-union develops in 10% of scaphoid fractures. There is sparse literature on fixation methods other than screws. We compared union rates following fixation of scaphoid non-union using screw fixation and a novel method of plate fixation. Retrospective study. Union rates were assessed at 3 months post-operatively by a musculoskeletal radiologist. 15 patients underwent screw fixation and 15 underwent plate fixation. 86% union rate with screw fixation and 72% plate fixation united. There was no significant difference. Screw fixation and plate fixation in our institution both provide union rates that are consistent with the literature.Entities:
