Abstract
New technologies can do more than just digitize health information; they can support multimedia platforms for patient education and health decision support. Technology can simplify the way health decisions are made by offering quick access to a vast amount of information that can be tailored to specific populations. Digital tools can increase knowledge and assist consumers in comparing health care alternatives. They are well received by patients because of the myriad features that render them visually appealing and entertaining, including audiovisual and interactive elements. To be effective, however, digital tools must be evidence based and developed following quality standards.Entities:
